CllrTweeps is the result of independent work of several Twitterers.
The Twitter user @CllrTweeps is actually @JamesCousins who started finding UK councillors to see how Twitter was being used. When he eventually decided just to be himself on Twitter rather than seeing what others did he continued to maintain the list anyway and, to make it easier, created the CllrTweeps account.
Surprised by the interest shown, inspired by Tweetminster and other sites and discovering other Twitterers who were thinking of doing similar things led to the creation of this website.
Currently the project is being developed by James Cousins and @DafyddBach, with a big credit to @Liz_Azyan who did a lot of work in identifying councillors.
The site itself is a temporary affair, and you can expect it to develop over the coming weeks, with added functionality, better design and maybe a different identity over coming weeks.
