Welcome to the new CllrTweeps website.
Since our launch in early February, we‘ve been listening to feedback, and working our how best to display the information we’ve been collecting. When we first started, we had just a handful of councillors, now we have over 200. While this is not a huge number when you consider that there are over 21,000 councillors* in the UK – it’s a fantastic first step.
One of our biggest challenges for this release was to move our existing information into a database structure so it could be managed more easily. Once this was done, it meant that we could set about adding in some of the features you’ve been asking for. It also makes it easier for us to produce new ways of viewing and categorising the data we have.
With today’s launch, you can now view councillors by political party, as well as by council. We’ve included the main three parties on the menu above, and all the other parties can be found from the ‘All Parties’ link. We’ve also added in a page for you to view all the councillors - just click on ‘Tweeps’.
Of course, we’re not done yet. We see this site as a continual project and will be introducing more new features over the coming months. If you have any ideas for things you’d like to see then leave us a comment or send us an email.
I hope you like the new site and as always, we welcome any feedback you have!
